PHASE I: DEFINE KEYWORDS
During this phase we interviewed Danny to determine his goal and help him decide which keywords/keyphrases would drive traffic to his site. We expanded that list to include local variations to reach "targeted traffic".  Targeted traffic results in higher customer conversions and this is key to any organization looking to get customers from the search engines.  We took his top 5 key words and expanded them into 4 to 5 word keyphrases to get to that "target" audience.  For example, one of his top 5 keywords was "Tae Kwon Do", but since his school is located in Fredericksburg, VA, he needed to get traffic from that area, not some place like Sheboygan, Wisconsin. 

PHASE II: OPTIMIZE THE SITE
Once we had the keywords defined, the next step was to make sure his website was completely optimized to reflect them.  This is an important step. Search engines are looking for specific elements on the site and if the pages do not contain them or there are errors on the page, the rankings will suffer.  We also worked at refining his content to ensure that the keyword density was in line with the top ranked sites. Finally, during this phase we made sure that we had submitted sitemaps and requested indexing by the major search engines.

PHASE III: LINK THE SITE
Search engines love links.  The more inbound links to your site the better, but there are some stipulations.  We advised Danny on what sites to target for obtaining reciprocal links and also devised an effective strategy for developing landing pages that focused on his target keywords.  With our guidance, Danny began a link building blitz that paid off big-time! 

PHASE IV: MONITOR & MAINTAIN RANKINGS
The results were no surprise.  But that didn't mean that the work was over.  We provided Danny with weekly reports showing his progress.  Once he obtained the rank he was after, we continued to provide suggestions to ensure that he didn't lose his positions.   Once you reach the top, the competitors take notice.
